Q: How many members can a team have?
A: As many as you would like. There is no limit to the number of people on a team.
Q: Can a school have more than one team?
A: Yes, as many teams as they like.
Q: Can a Faculty member advise more than one team?
A: Yes, some faculty are using the iOMe Challenge as an option for a student project.
Q: Can we have international students on our Team?
A: Yes, as long as they are enrolled in school or program that is affiliated with a U.S. college or university. However, for tax purposes, the leader of the winning team must be a U.S. Citizen.
Q: How much can a Faculty Advisor assist our team?
A: The Faculty Advisors are just that: advisors. The essay and video need to be the work of the student team, not the work of a faculty member.
Q: How will the essays and the videos be judged?
A: Check out the judging criteria: GO HERE.
Q: Will the judges know what school our entry is from?
A: No, all judging will be done blindly. The Rules Clearly State: Your essay and video should not include any identifying information.
Q: How will our entry be identified as being for our Team?
A: A submission form and number will accompany each entry.
Q: How do we register our team?
A: Simply go to Registration page and complete the form provided.
Q: How do we submit our entry?
A: Simply go to Submission Guidelines and complete the process provided.
Q: How long should our Essay be?
A: We recommend between 5,000 and 10,000 words, but no longer than 10,000 words.
Q: How long should our Video be?
A: No longer than 60 seconds.
Q: If our team wins, when is the presentation in Washington, DC?
A: We currently are anticipating that it will be the first week in March, 2011, however this is subject to change.
Q: If our team wins, will the expenses for all team members be covered to attend the Washington DC event no matter how many members are on the team?
A: iOMe Challenge will provide funding sufficient for four team members plus your Faculty Advisor. If there are more than 4 members on a Team, the team could use the funding to provide a share of the funding for additional members. If team has less than four members, funding will be provided for only the number of members on the Team, plus the Faculty Advisor.
Q: What is the deadline for entries?
A: All Essays must be received by October 31, 2010 and Videos by November 21, 2010. Because entries will be submitted electronically, we recommend submitting your entry before the deadline to avoid any technical problems.
Q: When will the winning teams be notified?
A: The winner of the iOMe Challenge will be notified the week of January 17, 2011
